Dragon Sports Wales

What is Dragon Sport?

Dragon Sport is a Sports Council for Wales initiative funded by the National Lottery, designed to offer 7-11 year olds fun and enjoyable sporting opportunities.

Liaising closely with schools and community sports clubs, Dragon Sport is making a dramatic impact on sports participation by encouraging children to become involved in a variety of organised sporting activities.

5×60 Programme

The 5×60 programme aims to increase the number of secondary age pupils taking part in sport or physical activity for 60 minutes, at least five times a week.

This Sport Wales scheme increases opportunities for extra-curricular sport and physical activity sessions for primary age children. It builds on the Dragon Sport scheme.

Ceredigion Actif are committed to help you achieve the best possible health and quality of life.  Although many people know that physical activity is good for them, most are unsure how to take the first steps to becoming more active.

The scheme works in partnership with health professionals in the Ceredigion area, including local GPs, practise nurses, dieticians and physiotherapists.  Clients are referred onto the scheme by their relevant health professional and will get the chance to take part in supervised health related fitness activities.

The referral scheme lasts 16 weeks and is delivered by the Exercise Referral team.  The instructors are highly qualified and professional staff.  They will offer you the following:

  • One to one assessments
  • Opportunity to attend subsidised activity sessions in a social, group setting
  • Expert advice and guidance


Cost: £1.50 for 32 sessions

Bilingual Services: Welsh and English

Age Range that service is Applicable: 16 – upwards

Does your service have any restrictions: Yes you have to fall under the criteria, and have to be referred by a health professional.
