Team Arounf the Family Newsletter May 2015

Children, Young People and their Families sometimes need a little extra help for them to have happy, healthy and successful lives.

Team Around the Family can offer advice, help and support in pulling together the right people to help.

How it works

  • Someone, it could be you, has some concerns or worries about a child, young person or family
  • The family, child or young person is contacted and these concerns are discussed with them
  • Together we look at ways to help
  • A small number of people who we think can really help are asked to be part of a Team around the Family.
  • The Child, Young Person and Family work with practitioners to draw up a plan
  • ONE person will make sure the plan is followed

What sort of things can TAF help with?

¨ Young people leaving home / running away

¨ Poor physical or emotional health

¨ Parenting stresses and problems

¨ Challenging behaviour at home

¨ A delay in your childs development

¨ Difficulties in the community

¨ Problems with relationships

¨ Drug and Alcohol misuse

¨ Problems in school

¨ Bullying

¨ Issues with housing

¨ Anti-social behaviour

We provide free training to make sure the TAF process is understood and used by all those who work with children, young people and families.  The current timetable is available here for both TAF Level 1 Training and TAF Level 2 Training.

The training is aimed at anyone who does direct work with families, particularly families who are at risk of escalating into needing statutory services (e.g. homelessness, social services, criminal justice intervention).  The Team around the family process gives practitioners the opportunity to work with other agencies, as a team, to intervene early with a goal focussed action plan in order to support families to regain control of their lives.

More training dates will be announced throughout 2013.
