Single Parents – the parenting site for single parents

  Single Parents

One Space offers information, advice and solutions to a variety of worries you may have as a single parent.

The Single Parent Action Network is providing a 1-2-1 benefits, money and debt advice service to help one parent families on low income avoid debt and financial crisis.

The One Space ‘Money Survival Kit’ provides a range of money saving solutions which single parents can access at a time and place which is convenient for them. The online resources include 1-2-1 finance and debt advice via e-mail as well as solutions-based case studies that reflect real life experiences.

From November 2008, changes were introduced to Income Support for certain lone parents. These changes mean that a lone parents’ Income Support may stop when the youngest child reaches a certain age – if they have been getting Income Support only because they are a lone parent.

Lone parents can make a claim for Jobseeker’s Allowance or Employment and Support Allowance with the support of Jobcentre Plus.
