The Healthy Schools Scheme

What is a health promoting school?

A health promoting school has been defined by the WNHSS as one which…

… actively promotes and protects the physical, mental and social well-being of its community through positive action by such means as policy, strategic planning and staff development with regard to its curriculum, ethos, physical environment and community relations.

The Healthy Schools project is part of an all-Wales network of Healthy Schools. All primary and secondary schools across Ceredigion are involved and working on all aspects of health and wellbeing, including:

  • Nutrition
  • Exercise
  • Environment
  • Safety
  • Health Promotion campaigns
  • Sexual Health
  • Substances

Everyone in school is involved in assessing the school on standards required and schools that meet all the standards gain a healthy school award.
