In the counties of Ceredigion, Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire we are looking for all types of families that can provide a permanent home for children of all ages, some need to stay with their brothers and sisters, others may have a disability. For some children it is important that they continue to have face to face contact with their birth families.

Do you think that you could care for any of these children – some of whom may have been affected by their experiences?

Bilingual Services: Welsh and English.

Private Fostering

Somebody else’s child – everybody’s responsibility

Hundreds of children across Wales are being cared for today by someone who isn’t a direct relative. This is known as private fostering and includes children whose parents are in prison and sofa surfing teenagers who’ve had a row with mum and dad and gone to live with a friend. While many of these children will be fine, some could be at risk of abuse, and many need protection.

By law if you are privately fostering a child for more than 28 days you must notify your local council. We have signed up to a national campaign called Somebody Else’s Child, run by the British Association for Adoption & Fostering, to ensure everybody knows about private fostering. Help us keep children safe by spreading the word and telling us if you know of a child who is being privately fostered.

Children’s safety is the responsibility of everyone.
