Childcare law is changing – please help spread the word!

As you’ll already know, from 1st April 2016, all childcare and play provision (including child minders, day care services, after school clubs, holiday play schemes and play provision) for children under 12 years old, operating for more than 2 hours a day, will be regulated and inspected by us.

We have been promoting these changes on our own channels – by letter, through Twitter, our newsletter, on our website, and face-to-face at public events across Wales.

But while we’ve tried our best to contact every childcare provider in Wales, we need YOUR help to reach your wide-ranging networks across the country to prepare people for the coming changes.

What we’re doing

We’ll be writing to all childcare providers again next week with a legal notice and application form, should they wish to vary their numbers.

If they do not need to vary their numbers, they must read the updated regulations and the changes to National Minimum Standards.

We’ve put more information about this on our Frequently Asked Questions.

This applies to registered providers:

And this applies to people who may need to register with us by 1st April 2016:

If you have any questions, please email our dedicated childcare mailbox. This is our main way of answering queries from providers and would-be providers, too.

Thank you for your help and support in spreading the word about these forthcoming changes.
